Deuteronomy 20:6-7

20:6 Or who among you has planted a vineyard and not benefited from it? He may go home, lest he die in battle and someone else benefit from it. 20:7 Or who among you ³  has become engaged to a woman but has not married her? He may go home, lest he die in battle and someone else marry her.”

Deuteronomy 25:3

25:3 The judge ⁴  may sentence him to forty blows, ⁵  but no more. If he is struck with more than these, you might view your fellow Israelite ⁶  with contempt.
