Exhortation to Remember the Past

6:20 When your children ¹  ask you later on, “What are the stipulations, statutes, and ordinances that the Lord our God commanded you?”

Deuteronomy 25:6

25:6 Then ²  the first son ³  she bears will continue the name of the dead brother, thus preventing his name from being blotted out of Israel.

[6:20]  ¹ tn Heb “your son.”

[25:6]  ² tn Heb “and it will be that.”

[25:6]  ³ tn Heb “the firstborn.” This refers to the oldest male child.
