Deuteronomy 9:19

9:19 For I was terrified at the Lord’s intense anger ¹  that threatened to destroy you. But he ²  listened to me this time as well.

Deuteronomy 29:28

29:28 So the Lord has uprooted them from their land in anger, wrath, and great rage and has deported them to another land, as is clear today.”

Deuteronomy 32:24

32:24 They will be starved by famine,

eaten by plague, and bitterly stung; ³ 

I will send the teeth of wild animals against them,

along with the poison of creatures that crawl in the dust.

[9:19]  ¹ tn Heb “the anger and the wrath.” Although many English versions translate as two terms, this construction is a hendiadys which serves to intensify the emotion (cf. NAB, TEV “fierce anger”).

[32:24]  ³ tn The Hebrew term קֶטֶב (qetev) is probably metaphorical here for the sting of a disease (HALOT 1091-92 s.v.).
