[25:19]  1 tn The text now shifts to use an imperative with the vav (ו) conjunction.

[25:19]  2 tn The use of זֶה (zeh) repeated here expresses the reciprocal ideas of “the one” and “the other” (see R. J. Williams, Hebrew Syntax, 26, §132).

[25:19]  3 sn The angels were to form one piece with the lid and not be separated. This could be translated “of one piece with” the lid, but it is likely the angels were simply fastened to it permanently.

[37:8]  4 tn Heb “from/at [the] end, from this.”

[37:8]  5 tn The repetition of the expression indicates it has the distributive sense.

[25:18]  7 tn The evidence suggests that the cherubim were composite angelic creatures that always indicated the nearness of God. So here images of them were to be crafted and put on each end of the ark of the covenant to signify that they were there. Ezekiel 1 describes four cherubim as each having human faces, four wings, and parts of different animals for their bodies. Traditions of them appear in the other cultures as well. They serve to guard the holy places and to bear the throne of God. Here they were to be beaten out as part of the lid.

[28:7]  10 tn Here the Pual perfect with the vav (ו) consecutive provides the purpose clause (equal to a final imperfect); the form follows the use of the active participle, “attached” or more Heb “joining.”

[26:4]  13 tn Here “loops” has been supplied.

[27:4]  16 tn The noun מִכְבָּר (mikhbar) means “a grating”; it is related to the word that means a “sieve.” This formed a vertical support for the ledge, resting on the ground and supporting its outer edge (S. R. Driver, Exodus, 292).

[28:23]  19 tn Heb “give, put.”

[28:23]  20 tn Here “upper” has been supplied.

[28:25]  22 tn Here “the other” has been supplied.

[28:25]  23 tn Here “them” has been supplied.

[28:26]  25 tn Here “other” has been supplied.

[39:16]  28 tn Here “upper” has been supplied.

[39:18]  31 tn Here “other” has been supplied.

[39:19]  34 tn Here “other” has been supplied.

[39:19]  35 tn Heb “homeward side.”
