Exodus 7:12

7:12 Each man ¹  threw down his staff, and the staffs became snakes. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.

28:40 “For Aaron’s sons you are to make tunics, sashes, and headbands ²  for glory and for beauty.

[7:12]  ¹ tn The verb is plural, but the subject is singular, “a man – his staff.” This noun can be given a distributive sense: “each man threw down his staff.”

[28:40]  ² sn This refers to a band of linen wrapped around the head, forming something like a brimless convex cap, resembling something like a half egg. It refers to the headgear of ordinary priests only (see S. R. Driver, Exodus, 310-11).
