14:10 They will bear their punishment; ¹  the punishment of the one who sought an oracle will be the same as the punishment of the prophet who gave it ² 

Ezekiel 27:32

27:32 As they wail they will lament over you, chanting:

“Who was like Tyre, like a tower ³  in the midst of the sea?”

[14:10]  ¹ tn Or “They will bear responsibility for their iniquity.” The Hebrew term “iniquity” (three times in this verse) often refers by metonymy to the consequence of sin (see Gen 4:13).

[14:10]  ² tn Or “As is the guilt of the inquirer so is the guilt of the prophet.”

[27:32]  ³ tn As it stands, the meaning of the Hebrew text is unclear. The translation follows the suggestion of M. Dahood, “Accadian-Ugaritic dmt in Ezekiel 27:32,” Bib 45 (1964): 83-84.
