23:23 the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, ¹  Shoa, ²  and Koa, ³  and all the Assyrians with them, desirable young men, all of them governors and officials, officers and nobles, all of them riding on horses.

The Levitical Priests

44:15 “‘But the Levitical priests, the descendants of Zadok ⁴  who kept the charge of my sanctuary when the people of Israel went astray from me, will approach me to minister to me; they will stand before me to offer me the fat and the blood, declares the sovereign Lord.

[23:23]  ¹ sn Pekod was the name of an Aramean tribe (known as Puqudu in Mesopotamian texts) that lived in the region of the Tigris River.

[23:23]  ² sn Shoa was the name of a nomadic people (the Sutu) that lived in Mesopotamia.

[23:23]  ³ sn Koa was the name of another Mesopotamian people group (the Qutu).

[44:15]  ⁴ sn Zadok was a descendant of Aaron through Eleazar (1 Chr 6:50-53), who served as a priest during David’s reign (2 Sam 8:17).
