Ezekiel 27:32

27:32 As they wail they will lament over you, chanting:

“Who was like Tyre, like a tower ¹  in the midst of the sea?”

Ezekiel 47:3-4

47:3 When the man went out toward the east with a measuring line in his hand, he measured 1,750 feet, ²  and then he led me through water, which was ankle deep. 47:4 Again he measured 1,750 feet and led me through the water, which was now knee deep. Once more he measured 1,750 feet and led me through the water, which was waist deep.

[27:32]  ¹ tn As it stands, the meaning of the Hebrew text is unclear. The translation follows the suggestion of M. Dahood, “Accadian-Ugaritic dmt in Ezekiel 27:32,” Bib 45 (1964): 83-84. [47:3]  ² tn Heb “one thousand cubits” (i.e., 525 meters); this phrase occurs three times in the next two verses.
