Ezekiel 3:20

3:20 “When a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I set an obstacle ¹  before him, he will die. If you have not warned him, he will die for his sin. The righteous deeds he performed will not be considered, but I will hold you accountable for his death.

Ezekiel 6:13

6:13 Then you will know that I am the Lord – when their dead lie among their idols around their altars, on every high hill and all the mountaintops, under every green tree and every leafy oak, ²  the places where they have offered fragrant incense to all their idols.

Ezekiel 14:7

14:7 For when anyone from the house of Israel, or the foreigner who lives in Israel, separates himself from me and erects his idols in his heart and sets the obstacle leading to his iniquity before his face, and then consults a prophet to seek something from me, I the Lord am determined to answer him personally.

Ezekiel 20:8

20:8 But they rebelled against me, and refused to listen to me; no one got rid of their detestable idols, ³  nor did they abandon the idols of Egypt. Then I decided to pour out ⁴  my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

Ezekiel 20:28

20:28 I brought them to the land which I swore ⁵  to give them, but whenever they saw any high hill or leafy tree, they offered their sacrifices there and presented the offerings that provoke me to anger. They offered their soothing aroma there and poured out their drink offerings.

Ezekiel 39:23

39:23 The nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile due to their iniquity, ⁶  for they were unfaithful to me. So I hid my face from them and handed them over to their enemies; all of them died by the sword.

Ezekiel 44:7

44:7 When you bring foreigners, those uncircumcised in heart and in flesh, into my sanctuary, you desecrate ⁷  it – even my house – when you offer my food, the fat and the blood. You ⁸  have broken my covenant by all your abominable practices.

[3:20]  ¹ tn Or “stumbling block.” The Hebrew term refers to an obstacle in the road in Lev 19:14.

[6:13]  ² sn By referring to every high hill…all the mountaintops…under every green tree and every leafy oak Ezekiel may be expanding on the phraseology of Deut 12:2 (see 1 Kgs 14:23; 2 Kgs 16:4; 17:10; Jer 2:20; 3:6, 13; 2 Chr 28:4).
