Ezekiel 4:3

4:3 Then for your part take an iron frying pan ¹  and set it up as an iron wall between you and the city. Set your face toward it. It is to be under siege; you are to besiege it. This is a sign ²  for the house of Israel.

Ezekiel 17:7

17:7 “‘There was another great eagle ³ 

with broad wings and thick plumage.

Now this vine twisted its roots toward him

and sent its branches toward him

to be watered from the soil where it was planted.

Ezekiel 17:9

17:9 “‘Say to them: This is what the sovereign Lord says:

“‘Will it prosper?

Will he not rip out its roots

and cause its fruit to rot ⁴  and wither?

All its foliage ⁵  will wither.

No strong arm or large army

will be needed to pull it out by its roots. ⁶

Ezekiel 47:22

47:22 You must allot it as an inheritance among yourselves and for the foreigners who reside among you, who have fathered sons among you. You must treat them as native-born among the people of Israel; they will be allotted an inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel. ¹⁰

[17:7]  ³ sn The phrase another great eagle refers to Pharaoh Hophra.

[17:9]  ⁵ tn The Hebrew root occurs only here in the OT and appears to have the meaning of “strip off.” In application to fruit the meaning may be “cause to rot.”

[17:9]  ⁶ tn Heb “all the טַרְפֵּי (tarpey) of branches.” The word טַרְפֵּי occurs only here in the Bible; its precise meaning is uncertain.

[17:9]  ⁷ tn Or “there will be no strong arm or large army when it is pulled up by the roots.”

[43:17]  ⁷ tn Heb “fourteen”; the word “cubits” is not in the Hebrew text but is understood from the context; the phrase occurs again later in this verse. Fourteen cubits is about 7.35 meters.

[43:17]  ⁸ tn Heb “half a cubit” (i.e., 26.25 cm).

[43:17]  ⁹ tn Heb “one cubit” (i.e., 52.5 cm).
