44:15 “‘But the Levitical priests, the descendants of Zadok 1  who kept the charge of my sanctuary when the people of Israel went astray from me, will approach me to minister to me; they will stand before me to offer me the fat and the blood, declares the sovereign Lord.

Leviticus 6:12-13

Context
6:12 but the fire which is on the altar must be kept burning on it. 2  It must not be extinguished. So the priest must kindle wood on it morning by morning, and he must arrange the burnt offering on it and offer the fat of the peace offering up in smoke on it. 6:13 A continual fire must be kept burning on the altar. It must not be extinguished.

Numbers 18:5

18:5 You will be responsible for the care of the sanctuary and the care of the altar, so that there will be 3  no more wrath on the Israelites.

[44:15]  1 sn Zadok was a descendant of Aaron through Eleazar (1 Chr 6:50-53), who served as a priest during David’s reign (2 Sam 8:17).

[6:12]  2 tn Heb “in it,” apparently referring to the “hearth” which was on top of the altar (cf. the note on v. 9).

[18:5]  3 tn The clause is a purpose clause, and the imperfect tense a final imperfect.
