Ezekiel 8:14

8:14 Then he brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the Lord’s house. I noticed ¹  women sitting there weeping for Tammuz. ²

16:34 You were different from other prostitutes ³  because no one solicited you. When you gave payment and no payment was given to you, you became the opposite!

[8:14]  ² sn The worship of Tammuz included the observation of the annual death and descent into the netherworld of the god Dumuzi. The practice was observed by women in the ancient Near East over a period of centuries.

[16:34]  ³ tn Heb “With you it was opposite of women in your prostitution.”
