Genesis 1:25

1:25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the cattle according to their kinds, and all the creatures that creep along the ground according to their kinds. God saw that it was good.

Genesis 40:8

40:8 They told him, “We both had dreams, ¹  but there is no one to interpret them.” Joseph responded, “Don’t interpretations belong to God? Tell them ²  to me.”

Genesis 46:29

46:29 Joseph harnessed his chariot and went up to meet his father Israel in Goshen. When he met him, ³  he hugged his neck and wept on his neck for quite some time.

Genesis 48:20

48:20 So he blessed them that day, saying,

“By you ⁴  will Israel bless, ⁵  saying,

‘May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh.’”

So he put Ephraim before Manasseh. ⁶ 

[40:8]  ¹ tn Heb “a dream we dreamed.”

[40:8]  ² tn The word “them” is not in the Hebrew text, but has been supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[46:29]  ¹ tn Heb “and he appeared to him.”

[48:20]  ¹ tn The pronoun is singular in the Hebrew text, apparently elevating Ephraim as the more prominent of the two. Note, however, that both are named in the blessing formula that follows.

[48:20]  ² tn Or “pronounce a blessing.”
