[1:8]  1 tn Though the Hebrew word can mean “heaven,” it refers in this context to “the sky.”

[23:1]  2 tn Heb “And the years of Sarah were one hundred years and twenty years and seven years, the years of the life of Sarah.”

[30:7]  3 tn Heb “and she became pregnant again and Bilhah, the servant of Rachel, bore a second son for Jacob.”

[40:2]  4 tn The Hebrew word סָרִיס (saris), used here of these two men and of Potiphar (see 39:1), normally means “eunuch.” But evidence from Akkadian texts shows that in early times the title was used of a court official in general. Only later did it become more specialized in its use.
