Genesis 12:20

12:20 Pharaoh gave his men orders about Abram, ¹  and so they expelled him, along with his wife and all his possessions.

Genesis 50:16

50:16 So they sent word ²  to Joseph, saying, “Your father gave these instructions before he died:

[12:20]  ¹ tn Heb “him”; the referent (Abram) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[50:16]  ² tn The verb means “command,” but they would hardly be commanding him. It probably means they sent their father’s instructions to Joseph.
