13:5 Now Lot, who was traveling ¹  with Abram, also had ²  flocks, herds, and tents.

15:14 But I will execute judgment on the nation that they will serve. ³  Afterward they will come out with many possessions.

21:13 But I will also make the son of the slave wife into a great nation, for he is your descendant too.”

44:9 If one of us has it, ⁴  he will die, and the rest of us will become my lord’s slaves!”

[13:5]  ¹ tn Heb “was going.”

[13:5]  ² tn The Hebrew idiom is “to Lot…there was,” the preposition here expressing possession.

[15:14]  ³ tn The participle דָּן (dan, from דִּין, din) is used here for the future: “I am judging” = “I will surely judge.” The judgment in this case will be condemnation and punishment. The translation “execute judgment on” implies that the judgment will certainly be carried out.

[44:9]  ⁵ tn Heb “The one with whom it is found from your servants.” Here “your servants” (a deferential way of referring to the brothers themselves) has been translated by the pronoun “us” to avoid confusion with Joseph’s servants.
