[19:10]  1 tn Heb “the men,” referring to the angels inside Lot’s house. The word “inside” has been supplied in the translation for clarity.

[19:10]  2 tn The Hebrew text adds “their hand.” These words have not been translated for stylistic reasons.

[19:10]  3 tn Heb “to them into the house.”

[37:32]  4 tn Heb “and they sent the special tunic and they brought [it] to their father.” The text as it stands is problematic. It sounds as if they sent the tunic on ahead and then came and brought it to their father. Some emend the second verb to a Qal form and read “and they came.” In this case, they sent the tunic on ahead.

[43:26]  7 tn Heb “into the house.”

[37:28]  10 sn On the close relationship between Ishmaelites (v. 25) and Midianites, see Judg 8:24.

[37:28]  11 tn Heb “they drew and they lifted up.” The referent (Joseph’s brothers) has been specified in the translation for clarity; otherwise the reader might assume the Midianites had pulled Joseph from the cistern (but cf. NAB).

[37:28]  12 tn Heb “Joseph” (both here and in the following clause); the proper name has been replaced both times by the pronoun “him” in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[37:28]  13 tn Heb “they”; the referent (the Ishmaelites) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[47:17]  13 tn The definite article is translated here as a possessive pronoun.
