[23:11]  1 tn Heb “give.” The perfect tense has here a present nuance; this is a formal, legally binding declaration. Abraham asked only for a burial site/cave within the field; Ephron agrees to sell him the entire field.

[23:11]  2 tn The Hebrew text adds “to you I give [i.e., sell] it.” This is redundant in English and has not been translated for stylistic reasons.

[23:11]  3 tn Heb “in the presence of the sons of my people.”

[27:31]  4 tn Heb “and he said to his father”; the referent of “he” (Esau) has been specified in the translation for clarity, while the words “his father” have been replaced by the pronoun “him” for stylistic reasons.

[27:31]  5 tn Or “arise” (i.e., sit up).

[27:31]  6 tn Heb “so that your soul may bless me.”

[30:14]  7 tn Heb “during the days.”

[30:14]  8 sn Mandrake plants were popularly believed to be an aphrodisiac in the culture of the time.
