Genesis 31:28

31:28 You didn’t even allow me to kiss my daughters and my grandchildren ¹  good-bye. You have acted foolishly!

Genesis 31:43

31:43 Laban replied ²  to Jacob, “These women ³  are my daughters, these children are my grandchildren, ⁴  and these flocks are my flocks. All that you see belongs to me. But how can I harm these daughters of mine today ⁵  or the children to whom they have given birth?

[31:28]  ¹ tn Heb “my sons and my daughters.” Here “sons” refers to “grandsons,” and has been translated “grandchildren” since at least one granddaughter, Dinah, was involved. The order has been reversed in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[31:43]  ² tn Heb “answered and said.”

[31:43]  ³ tn Heb “daughters.”

[31:43]  ⁴ tn Heb “children.”

[31:43]  ⁵ tn Heb “but to my daughters what can I do to these today?”
