[32:16]  1 tn Heb “and he put them in the hand of.”

[32:16]  2 tn Heb “a herd, a herd, by itself,” or “each herd by itself.” The distributive sense is expressed by repetition.

[41:37]  3 tn Heb “and the matter was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants.”

[41:38]  5 tn Heb “like this,” but the referent could be misunderstood to be a man like that described by Joseph in v. 33, rather than Joseph himself. For this reason the proper name “Joseph” has been supplied in the translation.

[41:38]  6 tn The rhetorical question expects the answer “No, of course not!”

[40:20]  7 tn The translation puts the verb in quotation marks because it is used rhetorically here and has a double meaning. With respect to the cup bearer it means “reinstate” (see v. 13), but with respect to the baker it means “decapitate” (see v. 19).

[20:8]  9 tn Heb “And Abimelech rose early in the morning and he summoned.”

[20:8]  10 tn The verb קָרָא (qara’) followed by the preposition לְ (lamed) means “to summon.”

[20:8]  11 tn Heb “And he spoke all these things in their ears.”

[20:8]  12 tn Heb “the men.” This has been replaced by the pronoun “they” in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[45:16]  11 tn Heb “and the sound was heard.”

[45:16]  12 tn Heb “was good in the eyes of.”

[50:2]  13 tn Heb “his servants the physicians.”
