38:6 Judah acquired ¹  a wife for Er his firstborn; her name was Tamar.

43:13 Take your brother too, and go right away ²  to the man. ³

47:2 He took five of his brothers and introduced them to Pharaoh. ⁴ 

[38:6]  ¹ tn Heb “and Judah took.”

[43:13]  ² tn Heb “arise, return,” meaning “get up and go back,” or “go back immediately.”

[43:13]  ³ sn The man refers to the Egyptian official, whom the reader or hearer of the narrative knows is Joseph. In this context both the sons and Jacob refer to him simply as “the man” (see vv. 3-7).

[47:2]  ³ tn Heb “and from the whole of his brothers he took five men and presented them before Pharaoh.”
