Genesis 39:16

39:16 So she laid his outer garment beside her until his master came home.

Genesis 39:2-3

39:2 The Lord was with Joseph. He was successful ¹  and lived ²  in the household of his Egyptian master. 39:3 His master observed that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made everything he was doing successful. ³ 

Genesis 24:10

24:10 Then the servant took ten of his master’s camels and departed with all kinds of gifts from his master at his disposal. ⁴  He journeyed ⁵  to the region of Aram Naharaim ⁶  and the city of Nahor.

Genesis 24:9

24:9 So the servant placed his hand under the thigh of his master Abraham and gave his solemn promise he would carry out his wishes. ⁷ 

Genesis 39:7-8

39:7 Soon after these things, his master’s wife took notice of ⁸  Joseph and said, “Have sex with me.” ⁹  39:8 But he refused, saying ¹⁰  to his master’s wife, “Look, my master does not give any thought ¹¹  to his household with me here, ¹²  and everything that he owns he has put into my care. ¹³

39:19 When his master heard his wife say, ¹⁴  “This is the way ¹⁵  your slave treated me,” ¹⁶  he became furious. ¹⁷ 

Genesis 40:7

40:7 So he asked Pharaoh’s officials, who were with him in custody in his master’s house, “Why do you look so sad today?” ¹⁸ 

[39:2]  ¹ tn Heb “and he was a prosperous man.” This does not mean that Joseph became wealthy, but that he was successful in what he was doing, or making progress in his situation (see 24:21).

[24:10]  ¹ tn Heb “and every good thing of his master was in his hand.” The disjunctive clause is circumstantial, explaining that he took all kinds of gifts to be used at his discretion.
