Genesis 40:9-10

40:9 So the chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph: ¹  “In my dream, there was a vine in front of me. 40:10 On the vine there were three branches. As it budded, its blossoms opened and its clusters ripened into grapes.

Genesis 49:11

49:11 Binding his foal to the vine,

and his colt to the choicest vine,

he will wash ²  his garments in wine,

his robes in the blood of grapes.

[40:9]  ¹ tn The Hebrew text adds “and he said to him.” This has not been translated because it is redundant in English.

[49:11]  ² tn The perfect verbal form is used rhetorically, describing coming events as though they have already taken place.
