Genesis 41:16

41:16 Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “It is not within my power, ¹  but God will speak concerning ²  the welfare of Pharaoh.” ³ 

Genesis 14:24

14:24 I will take nothing ⁴  except compensation for what the young men have eaten. ⁵  As for the share of the men who went with me – Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre – let them take their share.”

Genesis 41:44

41:44 Pharaoh also said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, but without your permission ⁶  no one ⁷  will move his hand or his foot ⁸  in all the land of Egypt.”

[41:16]  ³ tn The expression שְׁלוֹם פַּרְעֹה (shÿlom par’oh) is here rendered “the welfare of Pharaoh” because the dream will be about life in his land. Some interpret it to mean an answer of “peace” – one that will calm his heart, or give him the answer that he desires (cf. NIV, NRSV, NLT).

[14:24]  ⁴ tn The words “I will take nothing” have been supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[14:24]  ⁵ tn Heb “except only what the young men have eaten.”

[41:44]  ⁷ tn Heb “apart from you.”
