Context25:17 Ishmael lived a total of 4 137 years. He breathed his last and died; then he joined his ancestors. 5

[6:15] 1 tn Heb “300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high.” The standard cubit in the OT is assumed by most authorities to be about 18 inches (45 cm) long.
[6:16] 3 tn Heb “to a cubit you shall finish it from above.” The idea is that Noah was to leave an 18-inch opening from the top for a window for light.
[25:17] 3 tn Heb “And these are the days of the years of Ishmael.”
[25:17] 4 tn Heb “And he was gathered to his people.” In the ancient Israelite view he joined his deceased ancestors in Sheol, the land of the dead.
