Genesis 6:16
Context6:16 Make a roof for the ark and finish it, leaving 18 inches 1 from the top. 2 Put a door in the side of the ark, and make lower, middle, and upper decks.
Genesis 43:25
Context43:25 They got their gifts ready for Joseph’s arrival 3 at noon, for they had heard 4 that they were to have a meal 5 there.

[6:16] 2 tn Heb “to a cubit you shall finish it from above.” The idea is that Noah was to leave an 18-inch opening from the top for a window for light.
[43:25] 3 tn The construction uses the infinitive construct after the preposition, followed by the subjective genitive.
[43:25] 4 tn The action precedes the action of preparing the gift, and so must be translated as past perfect.
[43:25] 5 tn Heb “eat bread.” The imperfect verbal form is used here as a historic future (future from the perspective of the past).
