Genesis 8:5

8:5 The waters kept on receding ¹  until the tenth month. On the first day of the tenth month, the tops of the mountains became visible. ²

18:28 what if there are five less than the fifty godly people? Will you destroy ³  the whole city because five are lacking?” ⁴  He replied, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.”

[8:5]  ¹ tn Heb “the waters were going and lessening.” The perfect verb form הָיָה (hayah) is used as an auxiliary verb with the infinitive absolute חָסוֹר (khasor, “lessening”), while the infinitive absolute הָלוֹךְ (halokh) indicates continuous action.

[18:28]  ³ tn The Hebrew verb שָׁחַת (shakhat, “to destroy”) was used earlier to describe the effect of the flood.
