Hebrews 11:33

11:33 Through faith they conquered kingdoms, administered justice, ¹  gained what was promised, ²  shut the mouths of lions,

Hebrews 1:9

1:9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness.

So God, your God, has anointed you over your companions ³  with the oil of rejoicing.” ⁴ 

[11:33]  ¹ tn This probably refers to the righteous rule of David and others. But it could be more general and mean “did what was righteous.”

[11:33]  ² tn Grk “obtained promises,” referring to the things God promised, not to the pledges themselves.

[1:9]  ³ sn God…has anointed you over your companions. God’s anointing gives the son a superior position and authority over his fellows.
