Hebrews 13:9

13:9 Do not be carried away by all sorts of strange teachings. ¹  For it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not ritual meals, ²  which have never benefited those who participated in them.

Hebrews 2:9

2:9 but we see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, ³  now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, ⁴  so that by God’s grace he would experience ⁵  death on behalf of everyone.

[13:9]  ² tn Grk “foods,” referring to the meals associated with the OT sacrifices (see the contrast with the next verse; also 9:9-10; 10:1, 4, 11).

[2:9]  ⁴ tn Grk “because of the suffering of death.”

[2:9]  ⁵ tn Grk “would taste.” Here the Greek verb does not mean “sample a small amount” (as a typical English reader might infer from the word “taste”), but “experience something cognitively or emotionally; come to know something” (cf. BDAG 195 s.v. γεύομαι 2).
