3:7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, ¹ 

“Oh, that today you would listen as he speaks! ²

[7:12]  ³ tn Grk “of necessity a change in the law comes to pass.”

[10:10]  ⁷ tn Grk “by which will.” Because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation.

[11:39]  ⁹ sn The expression these all were commended forms an inclusio with Heb 11:2: The chapter begins and ends with references to commendation for faith.

[11:39]  ¹⁰ tn Grk “the promise,” referring to the thing God promised, not to the pledge itself.

[13:2]  ¹¹ sn This is a vague allusion to people described in scripture and extra-biblical literature and may include Abraham and Sarah (Gen 18:2-15), Lot (Gen 19:1-14), Gideon (Judg 6:11-18), Manoah (Judg 13:3-22), and possibly Tobit (Tob 12:1-20).
