Hebrews 6:18

6:18 so that we who have found refuge in him ¹  may find strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us through two unchangeable things, since it is impossible for God to lie.

Hebrews 12:5

12:5 And have you forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as sons?

“My son, do not scorn ²  the Lord’s discipline

or give up when he corrects ³  you.

[6:18]  ¹ tn Grk “have taken refuge”; the basis of that refuge is implied in the preceding verse.

[12:5]  ² tn Or “disregard,” “think little of.”

[12:5]  ³ tn Or “reproves,” “rebukes.” The Greek verb ἐλέγχω (elencw) implies exposing someone’s sin in order to bring correction.
