1:1 Here is the message about Judah and Jerusalem 1  that was revealed to Isaiah son of Amoz during the time when Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah reigned over Judah. 2

39:8 Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The Lord’s word which you have announced is appropriate.” 3  Then he thought, 4  “For 5  there will be peace and stability during my lifetime.”

[1:1]  2 tn Heb “The vision of Isaiah son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, [and] Hezekiah, kings of Judah.”

[39:8]  3 tn Heb “good” (so KJV, NASB, NIV, NRSV, NLT); NAB “favorable.”

[39:8]  4 tn Heb “and he said.” The verb אָמַר (’amar, “say”) is sometimes used of what one thinks (that is, says to oneself).

[39:8]  5 tn Or “surely”; cf. CEV “At least.”
