so no one can harm it. 4
Isaiah 63:10
Context63:10 But they rebelled and offended 5 his holy Spirit, 6
so he turned into an enemy
and fought against them.

[10:11] 1 tn The statement is constructed as a rhetorical question in the Hebrew text: “Is it not [true that] just as I have done to Samaria and its idols, so I will do to Jerusalem and its idols?”
[27:3] 2 tn Heb “her.” Apparently “vineyard” is the antecedent, though normally this noun is understood as masculine (see Lev 25:3, however).
[27:3] 3 tn Or perhaps, “constantly.” Heb “by moments.”
[27:3] 4 tn Heb “lest [someone] visit [harm] upon it, night and day I guard it.”
[63:10] 3 tn Or “grieved, hurt the feelings of.”
[63:10] 4 sn The phrase “holy Spirit” occurs in the OT only here (in v. 11 as well) and in Ps 51:11 (51:13 HT), where it is associated with the divine presence.
