10:11 As I have done to Samaria and its idols,

so I will do to Jerusalem and its idols.” ¹

48:11 For my sake alone ²  I will act,

for how can I allow my name to be defiled? ³ 

I will not share my glory with anyone else! ⁴ 

[10:11]  ¹ tn The statement is constructed as a rhetorical question in the Hebrew text: “Is it not [true that] just as I have done to Samaria and its idols, so I will do to Jerusalem and its idols?”

[48:11]  ² tn The Hebrew text repeats לְמַעֲנִי (lÿma’ani, “for my sake”) for emphasis.

[48:11]  ³ tn The Hebrew text reads literally, “for how can it be defiled?” The subject of the verb is probably “name” (v. 9).
