19:3 Then 24  a second time the crowd shouted, “Hallelujah!” The smoke rises from her forever and ever. 25  19:4 The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures threw themselves to the ground 26  and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne, saying: “Amen! Hallelujah!”

19:5 Then 27  a voice came from the throne, saying:

“Praise our God

all you his servants,

and all you who fear Him,

The form נוֹקֵשׁ (noqesh) appears to be an otherwise unattested Qal form (active participle) from נָקַשׁ (naqash), but the form should be emended to נוֹקַשׁ (noqash), a Niphal perfect from יָקַשׁ (yaqash).

Since the psalm is an expression of Judah’s trust and confidence, it is more likely that the words are directed to the nations, who are actively promoting chaos and are in need of a rebuke.

[46:10]  13 tn Elsewhere in the psalms the verb רוּם (rum, “be exalted”) when used of God, refers to his exalted position as king (Pss 18:46; 99:2; 113:4; 138:6) and/or his self-revelation as king through his mighty deeds of deliverance (Pss 21:13; 57:5, 11).

[28:22]  17 tn Or “reveal my holiness.” God’s “holiness” is fundamentally his transcendence as sovereign ruler of the world. The revelation of his authority and power through judgment is in view in this context.
