Isaiah 16:1

16:1 Send rams as tribute to the ruler of the land, ¹ 

from Sela in the desert ² 

to the hill of Daughter Zion.

Isaiah 30:23

30:23 He will water the seed you plant in the ground,

and the ground will produce crops in abundance. ³ 

At that time ⁴  your cattle will graze in wide pastures.

Isaiah 34:6

34:6 The Lord’s sword is dripping with blood,

it is covered ⁵  with fat;

it drips ⁶  with the blood of young rams and goats

and is covered ⁷  with the fat of rams’ kidneys.

For the Lord is holding a sacrifice ⁸  in Bozrah, ⁹ 

a bloody ¹⁰  slaughter in the land of Edom.

[16:1]  ¹ tc The Hebrew text reads literally, “Send [a plural imperatival form is used] a ram [to] the ruler of the land.” The term כַּר (kar, “ram”) should be emended to the plural כָּרִים (karim). The singular form in the text is probably the result of haplography; note that the next word begins with a mem (מ).

[16:1]  ² tn The Hebrew text has “toward [across?] the desert.”

[30:23]  ³ tn Heb “and he will give rain for your seed which you plant in the ground, and food [will be] the produce of the ground, and it will be rich and abundant.”

[30:23]  ⁴ tn Or “in that day” (KJV).

[34:6]  ⁵ tn The verb is a rare Hotpaal passive form. See GKC 150 §54.h.
