Isaiah 19:2

19:2 “I will provoke civil strife in Egypt, ¹ 

brothers will fight with each other,

as will neighbors,

cities, and kingdoms. ² 

Amos 3:6

3:6 If an alarm sounds ³  in a city, do people not fear? ⁴ 

If disaster overtakes a ⁵  city, is the Lord not responsible? ⁶ 

Amos 9:4

9:4 Even when their enemies drive them into captivity, ⁷ 

from there ⁸  I will command the sword to kill them.

I will not let them out of my sight;

they will experience disaster, not prosperity.” ⁹ 

Matthew 10:34-36

Not Peace, but a Sword

10:34 “Do not think that I have come to bring ¹⁰  peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword. 10:35 For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, 10:36 and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. ¹¹
