Isaiah 19:22

19:22 The Lord will strike Egypt, striking and then healing them. They will turn to the Lord and he will listen to their prayers ¹  and heal them.

Isaiah 62:12

62:12 They will be called, “The Holy People,

the Ones Protected ²  by the Lord.”

You will be called, “Sought After,

City Not Abandoned.”

Isaiah 63:8

63:8 He said, “Certainly they will be my people,

children who are not disloyal.” ³ 

He became their deliverer.

Isaiah 63:10

63:10 But they rebelled and offended ⁴  his holy Spirit, ⁵ 

so he turned into an enemy

and fought against them.

[19:22]  ¹ tn Heb “he will be entreated.” The Niphal has a tolerative sense here, “he will allow himself to be entreated.”

[62:12]  ² tn Or “the redeemed of the Lord” (KJV, NAB).

[63:8]  ³ tn Heb “children [who] do not act deceitfully.” Here the verb refers to covenantal loyalty.

[63:10]  ⁴ tn Or “grieved, hurt the feelings of.”

[63:10]  ⁵ sn The phrase “holy Spirit” occurs in the OT only here (in v. 11 as well) and in Ps 51:11 (51:13 HT), where it is associated with the divine presence.
