19:24 At that time Israel will be the third member of the group, along with Egypt and Assyria, and will be a recipient of blessing 1  in the earth. 2

Isaiah 37:30

Context

37:30 3 “This will be your reminder that I have spoken the truth: 4  This year you will eat what grows wild, 5  and next year 6  what grows on its own. But the year after that 7  you will plant seed and harvest crops; you will plant vines and consume their produce. 8

Isaiah 15:5

Context

15:5 My heart cries out because of Moab’s plight, 9

and for the fugitives 10  stretched out 11  as far as Zoar and Eglath Shelishiyah.

For they weep as they make their way up the ascent of Luhith;

they loudly lament their demise on the road to Horonaim. 12

[19:24]  1 tn Heb “will be a blessing” (so NCV).

[19:24]  2 tn Or “land” (KJV, NAB).

[37:30]  3 tn At this point the word concerning the king of Assyria (vv. 22-29) ends and the Lord again addresses Hezekiah and the people directly (see v. 21).

[37:30]  4 tn Heb “and this is your sign.” In this case the אוֹת (’ot, “sign”) is a future reminder of God’s intervention designated before the actual intervention takes place. For similar “signs” see Exod 3:12 and Isa 7:14-25.

[37:30]  5 sn This refers to crops that grew up on their own (that is, without cultivation) from the seed planted in past years.

[37:30]  6 tn Heb “and in the second year” (so ASV).

[37:30]  7 tn Heb “in the third year” (so KJV, NAB).

[37:30]  8 tn The four plural imperatival verb forms in v. 30b are used rhetorically. The Lord commands the people to plant, harvest, etc. to emphasize the certainty of restored peace and prosperity.

[15:5]  5 tn Heb “for Moab.” For rhetorical purposes the speaker (the Lord?, see v. 9) plays the role of a mourner.

[15:5]  6 tn The vocalization of the Hebrew text suggests “the bars of her gates,” but the form should be repointed to yield, “her fugitives.” See HALOT 156-57 s.v. בָּרִחַ, and BDB 138 s.v. בָּרִיהַ.

[15:5]  7 tn The words “are stretched out” are supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[15:5]  8 tn Heb “For the ascent of Luhith, with weeping they go up it; for [on] the road to Horonaim an outcry over shattering they raise up.”
