The Future Glory of Jerusalem

2:1 Here is the message about Judah and Jerusalem ¹  that was revealed to Isaiah son of Amoz. ² 

Isaiah 5:3

5:3 So now, residents of Jerusalem, ³ 

people ⁴  of Judah,

you decide between me and my vineyard!

Isaiah 11:12

11:12 He will lift a signal flag for the nations;

he will gather Israel’s dispersed people ⁵ 

and assemble Judah’s scattered people

from the four corners of the earth.

Isaiah 22:8

22:8 They ⁶  removed the defenses ⁷  of Judah.

At that time ⁸  you looked

for the weapons in the House of the Forest. ⁹ 

Isaiah 37:31

37:31 Those who remain in Judah will take root in the ground and bear fruit. ¹⁰

[22:8]  ⁷ tn Heb “he,” i.e., the enemy invader. NASB, by its capitalization of the pronoun, takes this to refer to the Lord.

[22:8]  ⁹ tn Heb “in that day” (so KJV), likewise at the beginning of v. 12.

[22:8]  ¹⁰ sn Perhaps this refers to a royal armory, or to Solomon’s “House of the Forest of Lebanon,” where weapons may have been kept (see 1 Kgs 10:16-17).

[37:31]  ⁹ tn Heb “The remnant of the house of Judah that is left will add roots below and produce fruit above.”
