The Future Glory of Jerusalem

2:1 Here is the message about Judah and Jerusalem ¹  that was revealed to Isaiah son of Amoz. ² 

Isaiah 5:3

5:3 So now, residents of Jerusalem, ³ 

people ⁴  of Judah,

you decide between me and my vineyard!

Isaiah 7:6

7:6 They say, “Let’s attack Judah, terrorize it, and conquer it. ⁵  Then we’ll set up the son of Tabeel as its king.” ⁶ 

Isaiah 11:12

11:12 He will lift a signal flag for the nations;

he will gather Israel’s dispersed people ⁷ 

and assemble Judah’s scattered people

from the four corners of the earth.

Isaiah 22:8

22:8 They ⁸  removed the defenses ⁹  of Judah.

At that time ¹⁰  you looked

for the weapons in the House of the Forest. ¹¹ 

Isaiah 37:31

37:31 Those who remain in Judah will take root in the ground and bear fruit. ¹² 

Isaiah 65:9

65:9 I will bring forth descendants from Jacob,

and from Judah people to take possession of my mountains.

My chosen ones will take possession of the land; ¹³ 

my servants will live there.

[7:6]  ⁵ tn Heb “and let us break it open for ourselves”; NASB “make for ourselves a breach in its walls”; NLT “fight our way into.”

[7:6]  ⁶ tn Heb “and we will make the son of Tabeel king in its midst.”

[11:12]  ⁷ tn Or “the banished of Israel,” i.e., the exiles.

[22:8]  ⁹ tn Heb “he,” i.e., the enemy invader. NASB, by its capitalization of the pronoun, takes this to refer to the Lord.

[22:8]  ¹⁰ tn Heb “covering.”

[22:8]  ¹¹ tn Heb “in that day” (so KJV), likewise at the beginning of v. 12.

[22:8]  ¹² sn Perhaps this refers to a royal armory, or to Solomon’s “House of the Forest of Lebanon,” where weapons may have been kept (see 1 Kgs 10:16-17).

[37:31]  ¹¹ tn Heb “The remnant of the house of Judah that is left will add roots below and produce fruit above.”

[65:9]  ¹³ tn Heb “it.” The third feminine singular pronominal suffix probably refers to the land which contains the aforementioned mountains.
