Isaiah 2:3
Context2:3 many peoples will come and say,
“Come, let us go up to the Lord’s mountain,
to the temple of the God of Jacob,
so 1 he can teach us his requirements, 2
and 3 we can follow his standards.” 4
For Zion will be the center for moral instruction; 5
the Lord will issue edicts from Jerusalem. 6
Isaiah 42:22
Context42:22 But these people are looted and plundered;
all of them are trapped in pits 7
and held captive 8 in prisons.
They were carried away as loot with no one to rescue them;
they were carried away as plunder, and no one says, “Bring that back!” 9

Isaiah 54:17
Context54:17 No weapon forged to be used against you will succeed;
you will refute everyone who tries to accuse you. 11
This is what the Lord will do for his servants –
I will vindicate them,” 12

Isaiah 65:16
Context65:16 Whoever pronounces a blessing in the earth 13
will do so in the name of the faithful God; 14
whoever makes an oath in the earth
will do so in the name of the faithful God. 15
For past problems will be forgotten;

[2:3] 1 tn The prefixed verb form with simple vav (ו) introduces a purpose/result clause after the preceding prefixed verb form (probably to be taken as a cohortative; see IBHS 650 §39.2.2a).
[2:3] 2 tn Heb “his ways.” In this context God’s “ways” are the standards of moral conduct he decrees that people should live by.
[2:3] 3 tn The cohortative with vav (ו) after the prefixed verb form indicates the ultimate purpose/goal of their action.

[2:3] 5 tn Heb “for out of Zion will go instruction.”
