Isaiah 20:1

20:1 The Lord revealed the following message during the year in which King Sargon of Assyria sent his commanding general to Ashdod, and he fought against it and captured it. 1

37:11 Certainly you have heard how the kings of Assyria have annihilated all lands. 2  Do you really think you will be rescued? 3 

Isaiah 37:18

37:18 It is true, Lord, that the kings of Assyria have destroyed all the nations 4  and their lands.

Isaiah 38:6

Context
38:6 and rescue you and this city from the king of Assyria. I will shield this city.”’”

[20:1]  1 tn Heb “In the year the commanding general came to Ashdod, when Sargon king of Assyria sent him, and he fought against Ashdod and captured it.”

[37:11]  2 tn Heb “Look, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, annihilating them.”

[37:11]  3 tn Heb “and will you be rescued?” The rhetorical question expects the answer, “No, of course not!”

[37:18]  3 tn The Hebrew text here has “all the lands,” but the parallel text in 2 Kgs 19:17 has “the nations.”
