[21:9]  1 tn Or “[with] teams of horses,” or perhaps, “with a pair of horsemen.”

[21:9]  2 tn Heb “and he answered and said” (so KJV, ASV).

[22:11]  3 tn Heb “look at”; NAB, NRSV “did not look to.”

[22:11]  4 tn The antecedent of the third feminine singular suffix here and in the next line is unclear. The closest feminine noun is “pool” in the first half of the verse. Perhaps this “old pool” symbolizes the entire city, which had prospered because of God’s provision and protection through the years.

[22:11]  5 tn Heb “did not see.”

[23:13]  5 tn Heb “this people [that] is not.”

[23:13]  6 tn For the meaning of this word, see HALOT 118 s.v. *בַּחוּן.

[23:13]  7 tn Or “laid bare.” For the meaning of this word, see HALOT 889 s.v. ערר.

[23:13]  8 sn This verse probably refers to the Assyrian destruction of Babylon.

[49:18]  7 tn Heb “Lift up around your eyes and see.”
