Isaiah 22:7

22:7 Your very best valleys were full of chariots; ¹ 

horsemen confidently took their positions ²  at the gate.

Isaiah 20:4

20:4 so the king of Assyria will lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Cush, both young and old. They will be in undergarments and barefoot, with the buttocks exposed; the Egyptians will be publicly humiliated. ³ 

[22:7]  ¹ tn The verb that introduces this verse serves as a discourse particle and is untranslated; see note on “in the future” in 2:2.

[22:7]  ² tn Heb “taking a stand, take their stand.” The infinitive absolute emphasizes the following finite verb. The translation attempts to bring out this emphasis with the adverb “confidently.”

[20:4]  ³ tn Heb “lightly dressed and barefoot, and bare with respect to the buttocks, the nakedness of Egypt.”
