Isaiah 24:8-9

24:8 The happy sound ¹  of the tambourines stops,

the revelry of those who celebrate comes to a halt,

the happy sound of the harp ceases.

24:9 They no longer sing and drink wine; ² 

the beer tastes bitter to those who drink it.

Isaiah 32:10

32:10 In a year’s time ³ 

you carefree ones will shake with fear,

for the grape ⁴  harvest will fail,

and the fruit harvest will not arrive.

Jeremiah 48:33

48:33 Joy and gladness will disappear

from the fruitful land of Moab. ⁵ 

I will stop the flow of wine from the winepresses.

No one will stomp on the grapes there and shout for joy. ⁶ 

The shouts there will be shouts of soldiers,

not the shouts of those making wine. ⁷ 

Amos 5:11

5:11 Therefore, because you make the poor pay taxes on their crops ⁸

Zephaniah 1:13

[48:33]  ⁷ tn Heb “shouts will not be shouts.” The text has been expanded contextually to explain that the shouts of those treading grapes in winepresses will come to an end (v. 33a-d) and be replaced by the shouts of the soldiers who trample down the vineyards (v. 32e-f). Compare 25:30 and 51:41 for the idea.

[5:11]  ⁸ tn Traditionally, “because you trample on the poor” (cf. KJV, ASV, NAB, NIV, NRSV, NLT). The traditional view derives the verb from בּוּס (bus, “to trample”; cf. Isa. 14:25), but more likely it is cognate to an Akkadian verb meaning “to exact an agricultural tax” (see H. R. Cohen, Biblical Hapax Legomena [SBLDS], 49; S. M. Paul, Amos [Hermeneia], 172-73).
