Isaiah 25:2
Context25:2 Indeed, 1 you have made the city 2 into a heap of rubble,
the fortified town into a heap of ruins;
the fortress of foreigners 3 is no longer a city,
it will never be rebuilt.
Isaiah 45:13
Context45:13 It is me – I stir him up and commission him; 4
I will make all his ways level.
He will rebuild my city;
he will send my exiled people home,
but not for a price or a bribe,”
says the Lord who commands armies.

[25:2] 1 tn Or “For” (KJV, NAB, NASB, NRSV).
[25:2] 2 tn The Hebrew text has “you have made from the city.” The prefixed mem (מ) on עִיר (’ir, “city”) was probably originally an enclitic mem suffixed to the preceding verb. See J. N. Oswalt, Isaiah (NICOT), 1:456, n. 3.
[25:2] 3 tc Some with support from the LXX emend זָרִים (zarim, “foreigners”) to זֵדִים (zedim, “the insolent”).
[45:13] 4 tn Heb “I stir him up in righteousness”; NASB “I have aroused him.” See the note at 41:2. Cyrus (cf. 44:28) is in view here.
