Isaiah 27:11

27:11 When its branches get brittle, ¹  they break;

women come and use them for kindling. ² 

For these people lack understanding, ³ 

therefore the one who made them has no compassion on them;

the one who formed them has no mercy on them.

Isaiah 43:10

43:10 You are my witnesses,” says the Lord,

“my servant whom I have chosen,

so that you may consider ⁴  and believe in me,

and understand that I am he.

No god was formed before me,

and none will outlive me. ⁵ 

Isaiah 49:5

49:5 So now the Lord says,

the one who formed me from birth ⁶  to be his servant –

he did this ⁷  to restore Jacob to himself,

so that Israel might be gathered to him;

and I will be honored ⁸  in the Lord’s sight,

for my God is my source of strength ⁹  –

Isaiah 54:17

54:17 No weapon forged to be used against you will succeed;

you will refute everyone who tries to accuse you. ¹⁰ 

This is what the Lord will do for his servants –

[27:11]  ² tn Heb “women come [and] light it.” The city is likened to a dead tree with dried up branches that is only good for firewood.
