Isaiah 27:11

Context

27:11 When its branches get brittle,¹ they break;

women come and use them for kindling.²

For these people lack understanding,³

therefore the one who made them has no compassion on them;

the one who formed them has no mercy on them.

Isaiah 60:19

Context

60:19 The sun will no longer supply light for you by day,

nor will the moon’s brightness shine on you;

the Lord will be your permanent source of light –

the splendor of your God will shine upon you.⁴

[27:11] ²tn Heb “women come [and] light it.” The city is likened to a dead tree with dried up branches that is only good for firewood.
