[36:22]  1 tn Heb “with their clothes torn”; the words “in grief” have been supplied in the translation to indicate that this was done as a sign of grief and mourning.

[37:4]  2 tn Heb “all the words of the chief adviser whom his master, the king of Assyria, sent to taunt the living God.”

[37:4]  3 tn Heb “and rebuke the words which the Lord your God hears.”

[37:4]  4 tn Heb “and lift up a prayer on behalf of the remnant that is found.”

[55:11]  3 tn Heb “so is the word which goes out from my mouth, it does not return to empty.” “Word” refers here to divine promises, like the ones made just prior to and after this (see vv. 7b, 12-13).

[55:11]  4 tn Heb “but it accomplishes what I desire, and succeeds [on the mission] which I send it.”

[66:2]  4 tn Heb “all these.” The phrase refers to the heavens and earth, mentioned in the previous verse.

[66:2]  5 tn Heb “and all these were.” Some prefer to emend וַיִּהְיוּ (vayyihyu, “and they were”) to וְלִי הָיוּ (vÿli hayu, “and to me they were”), i.e., “and they belong to me.”

[66:2]  6 tn Heb “and to this one I look” (KJV and NASB both similar).

[66:2]  7 tn Heb “to the humble and the lowly in spirit and the one who trembles at my words.”
